For years, SAM MOORE was best known for his work with the stirring
soul duo SAM & DAVE. The rapid-file style built on the call and
response of gospel fashioned by SAM MOORE while the trade mark
able voice of the duo, sent several songs climbing up both the Pop
and R & B charts including "Hold on I'm Comin", "I Thank You",
"When Something Is Wrong With My Baby", "Soul Sister", "Brown
Sugar", "Wrap It Up", and "Soul Man" (which SAM later recut with,
of all people, Lou Reed for the soundtrack of the Steven Tisch
movie of the same name.
SAM & DAVE, who played themselves in the Paul Simon movie "One
Trick Pony" served as the inspiration for the parody by Belushi
and Aykroyd of their Blues Brothers.
SAM was inducted
into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame in 1992. He was asked to be
one of the headliners for the HBO September 2, 1995 "Special" Live
from Cleveland to celebrate the opening of the Hall Of Fame. |
